When I was young my parents gave me a gift, a book titled “A boy called Slow”. No doubt a loving jab at the pace I already seemed to be living life. Trouble With Time is about those mysterious experiences and uncanny perceptions of time, coming to terms with my inabilities to perceive or correctly manage my own, and how this dynamic effects relationships or personal growth.
I paused writing this to search “temporal”, and found that in addition to meaning “relating to time”, the PRIMARY definition is “relating to worldly as opposed to spiritual affairs; secular.” …which is fascinating, because this infers that time is of that which is the opposite of spiritual. Regular. Worldly. So although many of us constantly strive to understand and align ourselves with the spiritual realm, our empirical experiences are lockstep with time. Therein lies the trouble.
